TAM and GOL to bring 58 new aircraft to Brazil by 2010 – The leading Brazilian airlines have firm plans to enhance their fleets. TAM is aiming to expand its fleet from 95 jets to 127 by 2010, while GOL plans to expand from 65 to 92 jets in the same period.
Brazilian aviation industry enjoys steady growth – This year’s growth rate is set to reach 13%. In 2005 it was a record 19.4%. Official sources forecast 12% in 2007, followed by 7.4% in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
INFRAERO invests in upgrade for Brazilian airports – The national airport authority, INFRAERO, says it will invest R$2.8 billion (about US$1.3 billion) to upgrade local airports between now and 2010. The upgrade is required by the growing tourism industry and for regional infrastructure development, notes INFRAERO. However, according to analysts the nation’s airports cannot be brought up to the required level for less than R$7 billion.
